cedar song
the cedars creak outside my window
their hollow mumbling bones
rhythmically speaking
low-toned
in nothing but the softest whispers
barely heard above howling wind
as filigree shadows sidle
sideways
gentle fingers trailing across my storm-tossed mind
I feel their humming in my marrow
mo{u}rning songs of ancient sorrows
drumming pain within the ground
& I lay prostrate
face pressed to throbbing earth
in silent reverence
listening
to their ageless dirge
as I exhale
please ...

Queen of My Garden
In the garden of life, I once danced to tunes not my own,
Twirling for smiles, for applause, bending till I broke.
I wore a cloak woven from threads of your expectations,
Colorful yet suffocating, pleasing yet so hollow.
I walked a path where the two-faced Joker shows,
Their smile, a twisted serenade of deceit,
Their hands, shuffling lies like cards under the stage light's beat.
But in my hand, a card more fierce, more stark
The Queen of Spades, she rules the dark.
Her edges sharp, her bearing regal and composed,

My Beautiful Bones
It don’t bother me no more…
Shuddering from the drop, I haven’t seen the air for quite sometime
Bleary, dreary hydrogen directs the face of others
Come on down to the lake, I will drown us together again
Drink up all your milk, make it altogether better
Ramble on, repeat yourself everything is terrible, my mind it frays
You must never give up, you must never give in, you must be mad before you sin
I haven’t had the breath today, to play an ounce more of this game
And soon you slip and slide, and soon you...

april songs (Theme 3): Attitudes of Life 10
april song 30—all my life (punto finale)
were all my days renumbered as the grains
of sand that on the ocean fringes pine,
i wonder what would be my remnant gains,
ere vibrant youth yields to life’s swift decline.
would all my lyrics wither with the dawn,
to cadence like the sacrificial fawn?
were all my life the lyrics of one poem
—a ballad of engaging latitude—
whose metaphors compelled bright stars to know ’em,
would death accord a lither attitude
to destinies my journey must fulfil
before earth silence...

unrepentant wisdom
a rhymed, mirrored octet with a coda
the
poem
unwritten,
battling darkness,
languishing for light,
unrepentant w i s d o m
that could heal a broken world!
let its lyrics fill the pages
of inconsequential sages;
let its eloquence unfold
in the verseless kingdom
of this sultry night.
for the starkness
full smitten,
solemn,
free
the
poem
unwritten.

Old news
I'd put my past to bed, many years ago
They say you can look back, but never stare
Sometimes my past can bite me on the bum
It's not often, but when it does it stings
I am faced with the challenge of crawling out of that old familiar hole
Today, I am able to walk out, with my head held high, with the help of my beloved
Today anything is possible
She believes in me, I believe in us
They say you can look back, but never stare
Sometimes my past can bite me on the bum
It's not often, but when it does it stings
I am faced with the challenge of crawling out of that old familiar hole
Today, I am able to walk out, with my head held high, with the help of my beloved
Today anything is possible

A Peaceful Greed
Belly burns with many inferno's inside.
Charred screams and shrieks
of rage.
Ancient noise travels up from
the soul's deep cage.
It may be time to burn that page.
That within the deepest, primal
moans of ecstasy.
My long chained arms fling free,
as the profuse pump of life proceeds to seize.
My mind is now a sweet swarm
of gentle jasmine breezes.
Veins vibrate inner peace.
To desire nothing,
to have no need
Just a greed for great tranquility.
Charred screams and shrieks
of rage.
Ancient noise travels up from
the soul's deep cage.
It may be time to burn that page.

Dark side
I’m the only woman who saw her dark side
I entered a different world
A place that left a mark on my body
An indelible mark
A tattoo that makes me think I’m just a shooting star

An indelible mark
A tattoo that makes me think I’m just a shooting star

april songs (Theme 3): attitudes of life 7
april song 27—all my friends
the company i keep close to my breast
may hang about my neck—a human noose
that prematurely speeds my earthly rest,
unless, discretely, i should learn to choose
who occupies peripheral back seat
or dwells within my innermost retreat.
not all my friends may all my secrets share,
though many may pretend to wish me well.
too oft a circle morphs into a square,
exploding like a virtual bombshell.
may all my true friends glory in the thought
that i will love them, always, as i ought.

There’s so much left for me
It’s not my past
Or lack thereof
That determines who I am
It’s what I do with today
It’s not my past
Or lack thereof
That determines who I am
It’s what I do with today

he looked upon the expanse of my flesh
proclaiming it perfect
forbidding the loss of even a single ounce
as if he had the right
believing he actually saw me naked
I have never been anything as simple as that
not realizing the layers that went into my making
how every pound represents something else
more sinister than this body can adequately express
comprised of years of abuse
& decades of self-loathing
{the worst...
nothing can be done
more horrific
than what we do to ourselves}
